Union Congregational Church

Since our founding in 1881, the Union Congregational Church (UCC) has sought to be an inclusive community where everyone is welcome. In keeping with its approach to life and faith, Union promotes the best of our liberal/progressive traditions, welcoming families of all faiths, encouraging the awareness and respect of various traditions, and offering opportunities to be in touch with the essence of faith. The Nursery School is an outreach of the church and encourages the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual development of each child.

We welcome your family’s involvement in the Church. We offer weekly Sunday morning worship and adult educational experiences for parents as well as childcare services and Sunday school for younger to middle school-aged children.

Nursery school families are always welcome to participate in our other outreach programs, including:

Suburban Cultural Educational Enrichment Program (SCEEP ) - tutoring Newark school children on Thursdays at the church

Side Door-a supervised space at Union Congregational Church providing socializing experience for Montclair middle school-age children on Friday afternoons

Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) - Three times a year Union is one of 80 hosting congregations in Essex county that provides emergency overnight shelter and meals to families in need. Help is always appreciated for preparing meals, companionship or overnight supervision.

Christine's Soup Kitchen - three times a year we prepare and/or serve meals at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in West Orange. Prepare food for 10 and/or serve at Trinity at noon.

We believe we are a church without walls, practicing our faith in our daily lives - no matter where we are in life's journey.
